In line with the policy of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist migrant organizations in the professionalization of their work, a number of DFD member organizations have started on July 9, 2009 the training by mapping out organizational needs. DFD itself as a platform is a participant of the Coaching Program together with Morocco Fonds, Vrouwen voor Vrede op de Molukken and Ayni Bolivia, among others. The following DFD-members will undergo training: BASUG, Damayang Pilipino,VOND, MWPN, Habagat Foundation, Plataforma Organizaciones Latinoamericanas en Holanda, Redeem Foundation, Vital Aid Foundation, ENNOS, RECOGIN and African Sky. The training will be handled by Context, an international cooperation-oriented organization.

Projects of 5 DFD members-organizations have been selected and awarded money grants from the UN-EC Joint Migration and Development Initiative.
They are the following: BASUG/INAFI Bangladesh on “Leveraging Remittances for Socio-Economic Development in Sri Lanka”; Damayan/ERCOF/COS Utrecht with its “Maria 4 MDGs”; Georgia Foundation with its “Turnaround Migration for Development (TMDP)” (NL-GEO) , Sankofa/GAPNET with its Sankofa Family Poultry, and
