Organizations
Members such as Multicultural Women Peacemakers in the Netherlands, (MWPN) NSON, Vrouwen voor Vrede op de Molukken, Burundian Women for Peace and Development, Africa Sky, OTP, VOND, and Habagat Foundation are among the most active migrant organizations in the Netherlands when it comes to peace-building and peace advocacy.
Agreement The Multicultural Women Peacemakers is one of the signatories of the Pact of Schokland (http://www.hetakkoordvanschokland.nl/) - an agreement signed by large companies, NGOs, universities and individuals stressing the importance of the Millennium Development Goals last June 30, 2007- is a foremost advocate of inter-faith dialogue, and women’s role in peace-building, and UN resolution 1398. In addition, MWPN participated in the peace mission organized by Burundian Women for Peace and Development in Burundi. Peace missions were also conducted in the Philippines and Indonesia. Earlier, in 2004, Habagat, Vrouwen voor Vrede in de Molluken and MWPN co-organized the Songs 4 Peace concert and conference. Conference In May 2009, MWPN organized a conference in Burundi on the Implementation of the UNSCR 1325 in Great Lakes in cooperation with its local partner GROFERVE, together with the Ministry for Gender and Human Rights in Burundi. This project was supported by Oxfam Novib, ICCO, CORDAID, and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Peace Caravan NSON organized the month-long Peace Caravan in Sudan. The caravan traveled through a country that was torn by conflict in order to deliver their message of hope and peace. Places covered included the capital Khartoum, the Nuba Mountains in the middle of the country, in the southern capital Juba and a number of other locations. The sharing that ensured was done through music, dance and theatre.
